Story 2

The First Hug

The tiny light Polaris had seen belonged to a baby. For the very first time on Earth, a mother was holding her newborn in her arms.

The night was cold, and the baby began to cry. Polaris wanted to rush down and comfort the baby, and sent down a single ray of light.

But then Polaris saw the mother hold the baby close. She rocked gently and hummed a soft lullaby. The father came and tucked a warm blanket around them. The grandmother came and stroked the baby's head.

And little by little, the baby stopped crying, smiled, and fell fast asleep.

The ray of light had reached the roof of the little cottage — and there it stopped. It did not go inside. Polaris understood: the safest place for a child is in the arms of their own family.

That night Polaris made the most important rule in the world: "Whenever I visit a child, I will come only through their own family — their mom, dad, grandparents, or whoever takes care of them — together with them, and only if they say yes. Never alone."

And that rule has never been broken.
